It's always exciting the first time a new friend invites you to their home. You feel like you've really made it, like you're a part of the inner circle. We're not buddies with Neil Patrick Harris (and his hubs David Burtka), but thanks to this little peek into their Harlem townhouse, courtesy of Architectural Digest, we can almost pretend that NPH is giving us a personal tour.
David and Neil just moved into the 5-story townhouse, after more than a year of renovating. Although they spent almost ten years living in Los Angeles (while NPH was filming How I Met Your Mother), they always planned to return to New York. Joining them are their four-year-old twins, Gideon and Harper, and two family dogs (pictured above).
The house is decorated in a traditional style that suits its elegant interiors, but little touches of color and a few quirky accessories (along with a couple of fiddle leaf fig trees) ensure that the effect is anything but boring.
Up top, the living room, which features a pair of comfy but tailored sofas from Room & Board, gets a boost from some abstract paintings. The den, pictured above, is cozy and inviting, with framed memorabilia from old magic shows.
Our favorite space might be Gideon's room, which has just the right amount of color and pattern, and a bunkbed that any adult would be jealous of. And then there's that little tiny Corbusier chair — just perfect.
