In 1988, my most prized possession was a set of fluorescent markers. I eagerly colored everything I could get my hands on in shades of neon yellow and orange, bright blue and green, and in-your-face hot pink. This childhood obsession might help explain why I'm so excited to see neon colors coming back in a big way.
So the shades that dominated the 80s are back, but, fortunately, with a little more restraint this time around. Try adding just one neon object to a room of otherwise well-behaved shades. I love how just a tiny touch of these bright, bold colors can instantly make a room more lively and playful.

Nomade Express Slee...
This is definitely not for me. I had about 10 seconds of patience for it in 7th grade and about 7 now. :)
Yep. I'll wait this one out and hopefully next week's trend will have more appeal.
That yellow door and the bright green bed frame are AMAZING!!! Those are great ways to incorporate pops of neon into decor - especially the door. I love it.
Love #1 and #9!
I absolutely love this trend! I think it is a great way to incorporate a little fun into a more so average room. Particularly love The 1st photo. Great design in my eyes!
I love the neon pink table. That tray in the last photo is also fantastic. Anyone have a source for that? I'd *love* a highlighter-colored tray to call my own! :)
A door perhaps. A lamp or accessory in a kid's room, yup. Otherwise, no way. Neon makes me cringe. Didn't like it (or wear it) then; don't like it now. Most of those photos are way too far beyond "pops of color" for my taste in home decor.
Not a fan. Regular spectrum bright colors are enough pop for me -- neon is, to me, just tacky. (Sorry!)
The rooms look awesome, but unfortunately they have no staying power. :(
I've always (>3 years is an eternity in internet time!!) liked this, but I don't think I'll be able to make it work, since I think it's more logical in darker spaces (1, 9, 12) and my next space is pretty sunlit.
Neon's been in for about three years now. The nude and neon orange thong sandals that I purchased three years ago are still trend-safe, along with the lime green neon V neck, the salmon neon fishnet socks . . . Obviously, I love neon. But it's gotta be done tastefully!
Wait, I thought pastels were back.
acceptable if you were born after 1985 and don't remember the horror that is neon.
I really like neon pops, especially in spaces that are painted in dark colours. I love #1. I have a dark/forrest green bedroom, and I'd love to add pops of neon pink. However... Does anyone have tips on convincing the boyfriend? And do all men hate neon? In my group of friends, that's definitely the case. Girls like it (some more than others), but all guys hate it. Odd.
we have a flourescent stand for one, previously seen on apartment therapy! canterberry on etsy =)
Love that black room with the highlighter-pink (remember last year's Panetone Honeysuckle?) table. Wish I had the %&$*# to have a living room like that...
Only if peyote buttons are back in a big way.
The neon doesn't bother m. What does bother me are those tulle tutu dustcatcher light fixtures like in photo #2. When will those ever go away? My ceiling light does not need a crinoline.
old news. snoozefest, AT!
Love that neon door in #4!
i <3 the neon trend! I've been trying to figure out something to do in our spare bedroom/home office. It's currently painted a colonial blue and I don't want to repaint since we're renting. This post inspired me to incorporate neon pinks with a natural organic vibe. Thanks AT, love!
