Anna sent us an e-mail wanting to share her wonderful work with us. Her life as a designer began with creating her own children's room. Color and movement fills each space and we love the details throughout each one.
Anna tells us a bit about each of her rooms...
"I happened to love a particular high end wallpaper which was pretty much out of my price range so I decided to knock off a version of the image in vinyl. As for the decor, I had a super hard time finding something unique for a baby's room. I had some wonderful fabric that sang beatnik hippie. Being a 60's by product myself it resonated and became the mod kitsch inspiration for the rest of Lola's space."
"For Oliver, he was into dinosaurs and also simultaneously having really bad nightmares about dogs. So I decided to make him some hefty mascots for nighttime protection, hence the two dinos. I hand drew the image, brought it to my local sign maker and had him magnify and replicate in vinyl. The rest was a mix of garage sale and vintage finds, like the dresser, which I repainted to suit the room."
"Nicky requested 'gears and robots with silver, gold and red.' Hmmm, how to interpret that? I constructed the wall art using go cart gears, Plexiglas and spray paint. The vintage robots and space-y anemone chair were eBay scores. The nook and bed surround were customized with repurposed ikea curtains and the funky pillow fabrics made a graphic pop."
"Dinah loved 'colors and animals'. Again, the inspiration for this room came from the very colorful vintage fabric that I used to upholster the custom headboard. It felt natural to put an Asian slant on it, so I painted in a bold green and used lots of bright colors to accent. Using white helped to balance the palette so it didn't get too, too wild in there. I had a vision for the framed animal art but not technique...so I sketched out some figures and gave them to painter, Beverly Truxell who did a wonderful job."
Thank you for sharing, Anna. Do you have a great room you want to share with us? Be sure to send us an e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
