We keep hearing that the Internet of Things is coming, and a significant leap was made this week. Google opened up Nest's platform to outside devices and developers, making way for the smart thermostat to be the hub of activity for your home. For example, your Jawbone Up knows you're awake, so Nest raises the temperature, or Nest knows you've left the house, so your Whirlpool dryer cycles to keep clothes wrinkle-free.
