Netflix knows exactly when you got hooked on that latest show you binged. The streaming service's research delved into the data and noticed that not one popular show had people from the very first episode—most took two or three (or eight).
In traditional TV, the pilot is the most important episode, but not one of the 20 shows they analyzed had a first episode that was the "hook" (e.g., 70% of people who watched it finished the first season).
This supports Netflix's strategy of releasing whole seasons of original shows at once, increasing the likelihood that we'll all watch 'til the end because the hook episode is already waiting in our queues for us to press play.
Head on over to Variety to see which episodes were the hooks in the series Netflix looked at.
