I know, we say the words "bookmark lamp" and you all automatically think about those little LED reading lights that you buy at the airport that clip onto your book and light the way for a few hours' worth of mile-high word porn. This is different. It's a really simple desktop lamp that we can only assume had the bedside table in mind as its destination, because it includes an outstreched arm that's meant to rest the pages of your current read over to keep your place before you retire to another long slumber...

Designed by Fulguro and first exhibited in Tokyo last year, the not-so-cleverly named Boomark Lamp forces aesthetics to come crashing into practicality by combining two of our necessary bedside table tasks—lighting and holding books— in a way that saves our pages from creases by ensuring we'll never have to dog-ear another corner.

Even if you don't read in bed, just seeing how great the lamp looks with a beautiful vintage copy of your favorite read straddling the arm might make you want to start.

Ok, you knew it was coming: The bad news is this is still a prototype. But does anybody know of any similar lamps out there? Let us now in the comments. A similar option is the Buonanotte Table Lamp.
