Getting their sound on. As DWR starts to test the waters beyond furniture, we were very excited to see that they'd begun stocking this super cool, elegant Geneva sound system from Geneva Labs, their first consumer electronics item ever...

Made specifically for iPods (but they also take CD's and play FM radio as well), these guys are the sorts of things that Steve Jobs would be proud of: lush, piano-lacquered wooden boxes with powerful systems inside.
Also, if you're in NYC tonight, Fabian Meier, CTO of Geneva Lab and a leader of Geneva’s in-house design team, will be on hand at DWR’s SoHo Studio:
He’ll explain the inner workings of the Geneva system and how it fits into the tradition of furniture designed for music that started 100 years ago with the invention of the Victrola.

i haven't shopped at dwr in a few years – do they still have that ridiculous policy whereby everything needs to shipped (at crazy prices) or can you actually go in there and buy something... as if they were, you know, like a store or something?
I just purchased at Geneva XL system. I didn't get it at DWR (so I can't comment on the shipping) but I purchased my unit at Hipster Home and they shipped it for free (price as seen). Now to the important stuff - The sound quality is amazing and I am beyond happy with my purchase. The mid level sounds are ultra clear with seemingly bottomless bass that fills my room with crystal clear, quality sound. The first thing you notice is the ultra modern appearance that is striking. Then the thing turns into a monster when you switch the power on. I am like a kid at Xmas with a new toy. The smile hasn't left my face yet. Listen to one yourself and you'll see what I mean.
