One of the busiest booths when I was at the show this week was Benjamin Moore's "Color Stories". Everyone is interested in a bit of color news and this is juicy. The new Color Stories line is the first from Benjamin Moore to be "full spectrum" which means that each color in the deck is made up of 5-8 other hues. They do not include blacks or grays, meaning that the various intensities of the colors is created purely through the mix of the other colors, not through the usual addition of darkeners.
The colors are drawn from nature and feel very rich, complex and "real" - as just one example, a gray would contain blues, greens and browns, just as you would find in a smooth river stone.
As a nice touch, the launch deck is not printed representations, but rather is made up of painted swatches, all the better to see the depth of the colors.
