While many magazines have shuttered this past year, there seem to be some new really good ones emerging. We just got our hands on lovely new magazine, GreenCraft, an inspirational resource for creative and artistic repurposing and upcycling of everyday items...
Newly out this August, GreenCraft is a semiannual publication from Stampington & Company. The magazine has lots of interviews with crafters, inspiration and instructions on how to make gifts, centerpieces and home and fashion accessories out of recycled materials. They've formatted the magazine by focusing one concept or material easily found around the house, and then shows you many different ways to repurpose it. For example there are 5 pages devoted to ways to make totes and accessories out of plastic grocery bags; a variety of ways to make gift baskets out of egg cartons and peet pots and wrapping paper out of junk mail and fabric scraps; 5 different projects made from newspaper and magazines; and really cute ideas for turning t-shirts into totes, gift bags and sachets.
A lot of the ideas are probably similar to things you've seen sold on Etsy or at craft fairs, but didn't know how to make yourself. The magazine is not intimidating, and the styling is really lovely and fun to page through.
While this particular issue focusing on reuse and upcycling, from what we've read they plan on branching out into crafts using sustainable and organic materials. The premier issue is on newsstands now, but the thumbnails shown above and a few more are previewed on the Stampington & Company website.
