A few years ago we reviewed the UltraSilencer Green Canister Vacuum from Electrolux, the first of its eco vacuums. Electrolux has now launched a brand new line of energy-efficient and responsibly-manufactured vacuums made from 55-70% recycled plastic, low wattage motors, and biodegradable, corn-based vacuum bags.
Each one of the vacuums are packaged in boxes made from 50-80 percent recycled, unbleached cardboard and have user manuals printed on recycled paper.
JetMaxx (55 percent recycled plastic) is a high-performance canister equipped with a motorized nozzle for deep-cleaning all types of carpet, convenient on-board accessories and fingertip and foot controls to minimize bending. The canister’s large capacity s-bag® allows for superior dust containment. A washable HEPA filter and a bag made from corn starch further underscores its sustainable production. Available this summer for $399.99.
Ergospace Green (50 percent recycled plastic) features a compact canister design that stores easily, a high-efficiency suction motor and includes both an air driven turbo brush for upholstery and a soft bare floor nozzle for a thorough clean on carpets and bare floors. The vacuum’s washable, reusable HEPA filter ensures that all the fine dust particles are captured, resulting in a cleaner home. Available now for $299.99.
ErgorapidoGreen (65 percent recycled plastic) is a lightweight, cordless two-in-one vacuum with a 180-degree swivel head and a detachable hand vac. The charging stand is ENERGY STAR-certified and meets the environmental program’s guidelines for battery efficiency. The battery is nickel-metal hydride that has less impact on the environment than other batteries commonly used in rechargeable vacuums. Available in May for $169.99.
Currently the Ergospace Green and UltraSilencer Green are available at retailers nationwide. Ergorapido Ultra Green will be available in May 2011, followed by JetMaxx, which will be available in summer 2011.
