Yesterday, Maxwell attended the NYC press preview for the new items launching at IKEA in the coming year. High on his list of favorites were the new textiles and there were a few furniture standouts as well - jump below for his for photos and notes:

I loved this new fabric pattern of trees!

New sofa bed taken from the IKEA design vault from years ago. Really nice and comfy. In taupe and blue.

Reidar Chair is a classic already, particularly in blue and orange.

Favorite new pattern bedding w red animals and polka dots.

They're keeping these great bottles w caps, have a new trolley & great kitchen towels

Lots of textiles and fabric DIY ideas - these were placemats and napkins cut from fabric bolts.

Ikea is a life saver for young 20 somethings starting off their live in their first place: aka me.
I love that blue hue!
Ikea is a life saver for us late 30 somethings that love modern design but can't afford the price tag of DWR and the like:)
Ikea is a life saver for us in our late 40s who love modern design and look for a stylish and functional piece to add to an already well-curated home, without necessarily breaking the bank.
IKEA is a lifesaver for those of us who love delicious meatballs.
Not to mention their gingersnaps...
I love the sofa/bed. It reminds me of the Le Corbusier Grand Comfort Sofa but much more affordable.
Those curtains are already available, just not in blue. They're in black with white trees. I like those blue ones more though.
I really like the look (and colours) of those Reidar chairs, but they are very uncomfortable, even at just a brief sit-down in the showroom. I can't imagine sitting on them for the duration of a meal.
I also really hate those new plastic kitchen trolley things, they remind me of the ones you see wheeled around in hairdressers, not kitchen material at all.
I do really like that tree fabric though, and is that a blue and white striped rug under the very uncomfortable Reidar chairs? 'Cos it's lovely too.
Agree with ADAORA1's comment. I'm twenty moving into my first place. I've bought most things at thrift stores but will be buying textiles and small things at IKEA.
Do they not allow cameras at these press events? I'd enjoy more hi-res photos.
Ikea is a life saver for us in our late 50s when you want your place to look like your carefree 20s.
Hahahaha - cracking up at these lifesaver comments. More! More!
I agree with stationeryfiend about the Reidar chairs -- horribly uncomfortable. They cut right into the middle of your back. Such a shame.
As for the trolley, it's metal, not plastic, and that isn't new. I think they've been selling it as a laundry cart for a while, in grey and in an aqua color. If I had a space/use for it, I'd love it.
And I want the tree fabric in blue too!! I have a new obsession now. Must get tree fabric in blue!! I'm still trying to get the Ikea Stockholm Rand rug which they've only had in ONCE this year at their Stoughton, MA store and of course it was when I couldn't get there to buy it. It was there one day and the next day, sold out:( How do I know this? Because every single day for 8 months now I look to see if it's in stock. One of these day I tell ya, just one of these days I'm gonna get that rug!
IKEA is a lifesaver for those of us who want to drop our kids in a vat of plastic balls and argue in public for an hour.
Hm. Maybe I've got a tough butt (haha) because I find those Reidar chairs to be just fine. Olympic Provisions NW in Portland uses them in their dining room and every time I've dined there I haven't noticed them to be uncomfortable. I have noticed them to look freakin' fabulous with the rest of the decor, though. Maybe I'm just distracted by meat...
HAHAH. Gypsymommy!
+1 @GYPSYMOMMY
Loving the sofa bed. It reminds me of the new Basket couch Herman Miller is manufacturing, although I assume it's a fraction of the price...
Ikea is a lifesaver for us in our early 50s who know that despite its throwaway vibe, you can also get cheap but quality things there.
I love the red and white bedding. So stinking cute. Eveything IKEA sells is awesome, but I always think of that guy who slept in the IKEA for a like week every time I go in there.
When I walk past the beds, I wonder, did people sleep in here last night?
The fabric pattern is of trees? I thought it was pasta on forks!
IKEA is a lifesaver for those of us who value liquid savings, and furthering our retirement accounts, over the perceived status of high-priced design.
Ikea is a lifesaver for those of us with children and pets, who need stylish rugs that can be hosed clean.
Ikea has been a life saver for us 60 year olds too!! I like to change things up and without Ikea it would have been impossible. I love all things Ikea especially the new items shown here. Can't wait until the new catalogue comes out here in Canada.
Ikea is a life saver for those of us in our late 60's when we take our grandchildren to Ikea to outfit their college dorms....and eat the meatballs!
IKEA is a life saver. period.
@Lolalalabean, pining for the Stokholm Rand rug, check out a darn close runner up, currently at 75% off: rug: http://www.rugsusa.com/rugsusa/rugs/rugs-usa-blocks/navy/200HJHK08A-36056.html
I went to Ikea last night. I really liked that new couch/ sofa bed, but the bar running along the back is really uncomfortable. I was a little disappointed. :[
