Design Within Reach has been busy adding their own exclusive designs to their offerings. (Their modular kitchen cabinet line will launch later this month!) The latest pieces are a collaboration with designer Jens Risom. Two of the pieces — an armchair and ottoman — are reintroductions of designs from Risom's work for the Caribe Hilton Hotel in Puerto Rico in 1949. The third piece is the new Jens Bench...

The Jens Armchair is $1,100.

The Jens Ottoman is $550.

The Jens Bench is $1,375. The bench features a shorter "floating cushion" that allows for an un-cushioned edge to use as an end table. (We wish there was an option for a full-size cushion!)
All upholstery is available in either a mushroom or chartreuse herringbone pattern from Design Within Reach.

I'd much rather spend 1/2 this for an original Danish Modern Armchair that's been restored and reupholstered in the fabric of my choice.
Agreed
Love it. I've been a longtime fan of Risom's work - and his trend towards the warm and organic qualities of wood (at a time when people were doing steel & fibreglass furniture)
Plus, its a design that doesnt scream its scandinavian roots.
I'm a little surprised that the bench is more than the chair... but still - not bad for a guy who's 90 years old!
The Caribe Hilton is incredible. Around the corner is The recently remodeled Renaissance Hotel. They have a really interesting decor including a wicker interpretation of Arne Jacobsen's Egg Chair.
More importantly, where can you get that simple, sweet poster?
