While the focus of the Ikea press event we attended last week was on all their affordable products for organizing your home, the highlight was getting an advance copy of the 2011 catalog into our hot little hands. Most notable in the kids' section is the introduction of a whole new line of kids storage furniture called Stuva. (We'll be posting later today on something else that more than caught our eye. Two words: PLAY FOOD!...stay tuned.)
Like many of Ikea's furniture lines, Stuva is totally modular to give you the freedom to create the combination of pieces and colors that work for you and your child. Wardrobe, dresser, cabinet, shelves, and, our favorite, a storage bench are all sized for children and ready to become storage and organization workhorses in your kids' rooms. Stuva is available in white, pink, green, blue and birch.
The Stuva line is not yet on the U.S. website, but you can find it on many of their international sites (English speakers may want to use the UK site where you can see Stuva here). We're not sure if Stuva has debuted in U.S. Ikea showrooms yet (have you seen it?), but if not it's coming soon to your local Ikea.
Ikea's annual catalog typically hits customers' homes in early August so keep an eye out (you'll know by your mail carrier's hunched back.)

Nomade Express Slee...
Seen it in person! Love the look! Although, it would be nice if the doors came in birch as well.
was just at ikea yesterday and they are already selling the play food. super cute!
I saw a peek of it in West Chester OH last week, but the area was still under construction.
we saw it at the college park [near dc] ikea a month or so ago. planning on getting some for our nursery!
I was at the St. Paul IKEA 10days ago and didn't see anything beyond what's in the 2010 catalog.
agentlemonade--- I think they do come in birch! At least when I was looking at the UK Ikea site is shows birch, maybe it will also be available in the states? LOVE the look of this, can't wait !
I just saw this line today at the Minneapolis/ St Paul Ikea. It is beautiful- it's sturdy, well designed and looks very high end. I'm coveting this for the kids rooms, and my office, and maybe the kitchen...! Seriously, in white this could be the nicest chest of drawers/ wall cupboards in all of Ikea.
I saw it at either the South Philadelphia or Conshohocken Ikea... the ikeafans blog is pretty enthusiastic about it and the playfood, too. :)
We are going to be putting together a couple of these babies tonight for our girls'. I love the idea of so much storage in such a small area, especially when they share a room. They are available at the IKEA in East Palo Alto CA.
Was just in IKEA (FL) yesterday, I know for sure these weren't in the kiddie section.
i work at Ikea Birmingham in the UK and Stuva launched there 3 weeks ago. its absolutely ace and is just flying off the shelves. sales are up massively and everyone just loves it! the colours are fab and with matching coloured cots on the way too, its set to do fantastically!
the Duktig soft foods are just to die for too, and if you havent heard yet theres a soft play farm called Landet with animals too and it just utterly gorgeous!
oh, for you guys wondering about the colours. its white, birch, pink, green and blue. but only certain stores sell certain colours, if not all of them. if your store is considorably smaller it wont stock all of the colours. :(
but as far as i know 99% of stores have all 5!
It's in Emeryville, CA. Don't know if they have all the colors.
i saw a few of the stuva pieces at the seattle store...really annoyed i couldn't find it online! i cannot wait to waste my time going through the new products/pricing when they are posted...
I'm so hopeful I can find a better solution for toy storage around our house! Well, honestly I can't wait to see the whole catalog.
I added this to my link picks for the week - thanks for posting!

I bought some Stuva pieces in Emeryville today. The system has so many combinations that it takes forever to figure out what pieces you need. Some important pieces weren't on the floor and some hadn't yet arrived to the store. Even though the system is still made of MDF, etc, its more sturdy than their other dressers (ie Pax and all of their armoires, dressers, etc) and has some nice features that make it easy to put together.
Unfortunately, we got home with a couple incomplete packages (2 right side hardware pieces, some missing screws, some missing directions) so its back to IKEA tomorrow. But I expect to see this system everywhere. Its so adaptable and I can't wait to see all of the hacks. My favorite IKEA thing in the world is the solid wood Trofast system, but man, this system came at just the perfect time.
Went on Sat (7/24) to the West Chester, OH location and purchased the toy storage and desk. LOVE IT! Had no idea it was part of the new line. It looked like they had every item in that store.
OK, so we (ie my husband) finally assembled 2 of the tall dressers (3 drawers on the bottom, doors on top, a mix of birch and white) and it was truly a project. Because it's modular, there were literally about 12 different boxes/packages in our living room. But he did say that they are much more impressive items than the usual IKEA he's put together. Very roomy and takes up only a corner of the room.
I was just at IKEA and resisted the kids section. "stoopit" (as my 5 year old would spell) me.
We probably don't have it yet (chicago area). that desk configuration looks perfect. hoping to see it IRL soon.
Has anyone bought this set? What's the age range for the Stuva? I'm having my first baby and planning our kids room. I want something that's going to last several years as the kid grows. If it's "kid" sized...what age is going to be too big for this? Thanks!
We bought the Stuva wardrobe for my daughter and we love it. The good thing about it is, it is modular and it can 'grow' along with your children.
