Call me crazy, but I've never been a big fan of the classic Eames Hang-It-All. This is essentially heresy coming from the girl who unabashedly loves all things Eames. It's always felt too elementary to me (which is appropriate since it was originally designed for children). However, this limited edition version of the Hang-It-All in Walnut has modern, handsome and "needed in my house now" written all over it.
According to the Design Within Reach website, "In August 2010, Herman Miller, Inc. introduced this limited edition Hang-It-All made with a black frame and solid walnut balls. This special item brings a sophisticated twist to the classic multi-colored version, and it will be in production for only a few months, ending in early 2011."
So, you have a few months to save your pretty pennies to buy this new design classic. However, you will probably want to purchase another, cheaper coat rack to actually hang your winter garb because we all know this is too gorgeous to cover up with peacoats and rain jackets.
The Limited Edition EamesĀ® Hang-It-All is currently available from Design Within Reach for $249.

It is beautiful.
That's gorgeous. I never liked the Eames Hang-It-All outside of a child's room either, but this is lovely.
It's funny, I actually like the elementary quality of the original best.
Is this one Made in Taiwan as well?
The Hang-It-All was designed with the original colors in mind.
A walnut and black rack would have been designed differently.
It looks okay, but it's not Eames.
I prefer the colorful version.
I scanned this quickly as "New Limited Edition Eames Hang-It-All in Wal-Mart" and I almost died!
Whew!
Who cares if it's not "Eames"--it's beautiful and an excellent, grown-up alternative to the multi-colored original.
I *really* don't like the original. Glad I got to type that out loud. I once was ashamed, but now am found.
limes, marry me.
i like this alot. better than the original. whether its eames or not, $249 is really steep for a coat rack. i would imagine you could make one for alot cheaper...
@nelsorp: It is already made for a lot cheaper, even though Herman Miller puts their sticker on it
It's *much* nicer than the original. Sure it's not the original but it's also one of those things I get sick of seeing time and again. This at least is different enough.
I personally prefer the original.
