Founded to "inspire and empower people affected by cancer," the Livestrong Foundation has been providing support to people living with cancer through practical information and tools to live life on their own terms. Photographer Casey Dunn has photographed what is sure to be a very healing and inspiring place with its design alone.
The Lance Armstrong Livestrong Foundation has completed their new building in Austin, Texas, and we're sharing a few photos via the photographer's website. Great modern design flecked with iconic pieces throughout (are those Wegner shell chairs we see in the lobby?) make this place a little bit of eye candy.

so this is where my/our donation money is being spent. On a fancy building and $500 chairs...
Lance wanted green (honestly). The building started in the early 40s as a paper warehouse with no windows. It went through several warehouse iterations on the East side of Austin (being 'gentrified') and is not what you see. All the wood for the conference rooms, etc is reclaimed. They are supposed to be getting solar on the roof some time. If you're in Austin, it's worth a trip. The design firm has won numerous awards for it.
So who is the design firm?

As someone who works for a firm that designs office space (not the one pictured) - there's definitely a concern on the part of many of clients that their space not be seen as too *lux* by shareholders, donors, customers (esp. in the case of medical facilities these days), but please also consider that they're trying to create a space to attract and retain the employees that spend 8 hours per day there.
That has to be a Lake Flato design.

I hadn't heard of them.
I wish a little more information was given in this post. There are some interesting facts that could have been mentioned.
The building is a former warehouse and now has LEED Gold status.
Much of the building was funded by donations specifically earmarked for this project
The building is not just the office headquarters for employees but services to the community and patient support are also available here. I think that having a fun, interesting and good looking building is a refreshing change for cancer patients and their families who spend so much time in clinical hospital like environments.
