Every now and then I stumble upon some interiors that totally get me excited - giving me ideas for how I'd like my home to be one day. Some of them are a bit extreme, but the ideas embedded in them stick and I find myself daydreaming in this direction for weeks. When I saw these pic of Host Restaurant in Copenhagen I fell in love.

These Nordic Chic shots, with raw, repurposed wood and timbers, smooth white plastered walls and creamy, neutral cups, bowls and plates - DON'T FORGET THE FUR! - speak to some deep bone in my body. I can feel the roaring fire that makes these cool interiors warm and the smell of a hot cooked meal wafting in from the other room.
Designed by Norm Architects, these interiors are of Host with a new line of dinnerware for Menu also by Norm. You can trawl around and see it all here:

One of my favorite bloggers, Emma Fexeus, was called in to style this photo shoot (shot by photographer Jonas Bjerre-Poulsen) which ensures their spot-on beauty. And after all that, there's nothing much more to say, just enjoy the pics!

Z2 iPod Dock and Wi...
Some of these I really do like like you said some are a little too extreme for me but I see where you can take what you like and build from there.
I love almost everything about this space! It's incredible and beautiful and simple all at the same time. Bravo!
Wow, wow and wow!
I "get" it... But it looks like a prison to me...
swoon...
These spaces + plants = perfection. For a residence, add plants and a cat....
LOVE that table. For me, a residence version of this would need some pops of color through textiles and art. But I think this works brilliantly as a restaurant - the color comes from the food and the guests. Beautiful.
There is actually a whole room full of plants in the restaurant, kind of like a Nordic winter garden. You just can't see it in these photos. :)
Thanks, I'm so happy you like the photos! And thanks for linking, Maxwell!
Am I the only one who COVETS that accordion ceiling light? Gasp! Googling for something similar now...
I am in love with the table in the first photo.
Beautiful photographs.
The little table in the 9th photograph is making me rethink my kitchen plan.
That's not exactly "getting" it - since a prison is not what is meant to be "gotten" and the author was expressing his experience of the space as beautiful. You don't "get" it and that's OK.
Ok, I am Scandinavian myself and this looks more like the seriously depressed suicidal scandi side of things. But to each their own.
So wonderful and simple. I don't know how much my cats would appreciate the absence of rugs and soft furry blankets.
Love!! So cool. Inspiring.
J'adore!
I love the chairs. They look like Tapiovaara but maybe they're just "inspired by". Love their delicate lines against the heavy masonry walls and floors. The light is very beautiful, too.
Lovely. I can see how someone might 'get it' and still interpret it as a prison, although I might have likened it more to a monastery. The snark was unnecessary and condescending. That said, I think the addition of textiles and art would detract from the serenity of the space.
Thanks for the virtual mini-vacation. I found it refreshing.
I usually love scandinavian interiors but the overall feeling of this place is desperation. Dreadful and weird. The only inspiring thing for me is the cutting board in picture no 6.
Almost lost me with the first photo; just not into 'old primative'. But, the the rest of the photos are interesting; especially like the table for two. Rough hewn and smooth shapes coexisting without cluttered.. The breadboards; a big "no, never". Thumbs up for colors I like & none of the white looks 'unpainted'.
That photo with the cutting/bread boards! Wooden plank ceilings, painted brick wall, cement floors. I am in love!
Of course that huge expanse of a wall with the enormous window...
This is completely not my style, but looking at the photos is calming.
Well, most of the photos. I have a problem with the photo where the chair is just randomly sat in a corner by itself with a single candlestick and dishes stacked on; the other photo I don't like is the one with the chair with blanket on, and a wheeled cart in the background. I don't think this is the restaurant as much as it is just weird styling for the photo. What restaurant would have dishes stacked on a chair in a corner? None, and that's why it seems bizarre and out of place.
The rest of the pictures are very calming to look at, as I said... almost monastic. Restful to the eye, and a beautiful, simple antidote to all the gold, glitter, red and twinkly lights we usually see this time of year (December). I don't know that I would like it as well in the summer as I do now, but I think it would be a fabulous place for a winter dinner party.
Very reminiscent - in the dense darkness of the woods, the arch of the concrete, and the overall spareness - of the missions in the American Southwest. But the absence of color gives an entirely different feel. I agree with the term "monastic."
I've a sense that the interior here echoes the stark Nordic winter, just as the exuberant landscape of the Southwest brings that verdant ambiance indoors.
Much too minimal and bleak for me to live with - beautiful to visit.

Are the high backed dining chairs available in the US?
Holy crap is this beautiful. I want every room. I appreciate the repurposed wood - wonderful.
Don't worry, the place is filled with soft wool blankets. I'm not sure how much the staff would appreciate your cats though. ;)
Stormi, I am the stylist of these photos, so I can explain. :) The pic with the stack of plates on the chair was not made to be a promo for the restaurant, but for the dinner service that Norm designed for the restaurant. So I can see how that might look out of place. The other one, with the blanket on the chair and the wheeled cart behind it, wasn't styled at all. We just found it like that when we arrived. So the restaurant does in fact look exactly like that. :)
Regarding your thoughts about seasons, and how it looks wintery... The restaurant's name, Höst, means Autumn.
I want to live here! It is beautiful and calm and interesting.
very nice quiet design....
I am 100% with you and have been looking for something similar as well. Have you had any luck? :)
Nice cutting boards
