Pull out your credit cards. What is it with DWR? They have a cute micro-sale every other week. And hey, DOOR - Design Out Of Reach, why does each sale offer to give us a little off, but never too much? Last month it was a 10% chair sale, but you had to buy at least 6, and now it is 10% off everything for 5 days only, excluding Herman Miller. And what is with all the flyers falling out of our New York Times this morning? Jeesh!

And HELLO West Elm! Officially opening their doors last Monday on 18th Street, West Elm has finally made it to the city that inspired it. For those of you who really get sick of looking at catalogs and like to TOUCH furniture before you buy it, this will be a relief. And keep your fingers crossed that West Elm continues to be innovative and improve their quality. This is a great resource that needs to keep going and not get the blahs, like it's bigger cousins....

If you want to find out what all the ruckus is about, don't miss Hudson Furniture's opening tonight. The 2,000 square foot showroom is beautifully arrayed with simple wood furniture inspired by "Nakashima and Brancusi." This is no West Elm, this is high end slabs of wood, and we shall see who brings this primitive style into the 2000's more successfully: Hudson (the restless upstart) or Tucker Robbins (the lion king).
