Looking for an unusual table for your living room? Maybe a something narrow to hide behind your couch, that you can put some lights on? Take a tip from Flickr member NinaHale and look at an old item in a new way.

In her living room, an old ironing board, painted a bright glossy red, is transformed into a place for books. We used to do this inadvertently when we owned an ironing board and were too lazy to put it away. We like the mind that finds beauty in a utilitarian piece that, when we see it presented in this way, reminds us that it's actually very sculptural and useful piece. Collapsible, adjustable and light, It would certainly be a useful item in a small space. Try taking it a step further and top it off with a piece of wood.

Haha, we also do this with our ironing board in the bedroom.. too lazy to put it away, so it becomes a night stand =) But I love this stylish transformation! The red paint and the red books really make a nice effect! It looks very intentional and not the result of laziness at all ;)
In Oakland, CA, the bakery Bakesale Betty's uses old ironing boards as their sidewalk dining tables, it's very cute and they are known for it. Well, that and their amazing fried chicken sandwiches....
