Sure, having a kcrw fringe benefit card on a keychain can be helpful for getting discounts around town and the yoga keychain card saves having to bring a wallet in to the yoga place. But today we found an even more useful, um, use for those convenient little cards:

This tip comes courtesy of our partner in crime, Lacey, who revealed the trick to us today amidst the framing of many (many) prints in Ikea frames. Sure, a screwdriver will do the trick, and so will fingers (for a while) but if you've got your keychain handy, those little club cards are the perfect size for opening and closing the tabs on the backs of the Ikea frames.

Keychain clutter.
Can I be the only one who thought ( based on the first photo of the card on a glass table ) that you were going to suggest using it for nose candy?
Sorry, I think I've been around the block a few times.
I thought it was for breaking into your apartment when you're locked out, which of course makes no sense, because it's on your keychain.
I use mine for the couple of times I get ice on my windshield in the winter.
Someone is really reaching to fulfill their blogging duties.
...?
I agree, LBhirise.
Nope...thefink. You are not alone. I actually think I see some residue in that first pic...LOL!
so maybe I'm the only one here... but I *just* spent nearly an hour yesterday putting pictures in ikea frames for a wall collage... and let me tell you, the screwdriver method gets old after a while! Wish I had known this trick 24 hours ago! :)
This is actually a really helpful tip. I've broken off some of the metal pieces with the screwdriver method (of course this probably speaks more to the construction than the way in which I'm folding and unfolding...) and my fingers get really sore after handling only a few. I never use the mini-cards on my keychain (I agree with bepsf), but I have a couple stashed in a drawer in my kitchen.
And fink, one uses the tips of the keys for nose candy. :)
I'm just amazed you only have one of those things. I have at least half-a-dozen at this point, maybe more.
@thefink and poisonhypnotique -- definitely. The stories my plastic cards could tell...
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought this was a bit of a reach... Maybe if you had 10 "new uses" but this is just a teensy bit ridiculous.
I use a dime.
I have to admit I agree with -haley-. This is one use that most of us probably had figured out already - and if not, we were accomplishing the same with screwdrivers, nail files, etc.
I admit to having three or four of these. It's too much of a hassle to always have your wallet on you. I'm always freaked about my purse getting stolen so I tend to stick whatever I need in my pockets. I know you can be pick pocketed but only if you allow anyone to get that close to you - lol.
Yeah, I much prefer to have a little bit of keychain clutter than getting a big fat wallet from discount cards.
They're also great for applying those clear plastic "skins" that you can put on the screens of your electronic devices like camera LCDs or an iPhone. Just gently scrape along as you place the plastic wrap and you get none of those annoying bubbles!
"And fink, one uses the tips of the keys for nose candy. :)"
this confuses me, beckyjo. anyone else?
I agree that something like "ten uses" would have made sense, but four photos to illustrate what's really a super-simple idea brings this post to the level of The Onion. Not that there's anything wrong with that; I like to laugh.
@Kaete
You don't need to carry those cards at all - stores will take either your phone number or e-mail address to give you the cardmember discounts.
And as far as those coupons that get e-mailed - rather than printing it out, more than once I've pulled up the e-mail on my iPhone to prove that I've received the offer and the store has given me the discount.
@NorNor, nose candy = cocaine. I'm pretty sure they were referring to how people often use credit cards and such to make lines.
bepsf - I have only been to one single store that allowed me to give my email address as proof that I had a card there. Most everything wants to see the card - it's a waste of their time to have to look it up for you rather than you just swiping/scanning the card which takes a few seconds at most.
@ nornor, sometimes people use the tip of a key (the part you'd insert into the lock) to dip into baggies of powdered drugs. you then bring the key under your nose and snort the drugs - key bumps.
I thought you were going to say that its good for id-ing ur keys when trying to retreave them from the lost and found...if your anything like me.
You can use it for scrapping off stickers.
WTH do you people do in your off time...Crazy postings!!

are we seriously talking about cocaine on apartment therapy? seriously?
I'm not sure this topic was quite a.t.-worthy, but the comments definitely are not.
