I love that photo. Probably because if you ever entered the room, you'd feel like a basket or a copper pot was liable to fall on your head.

Martha Stewart inspired me to prepare a turkey en croute for
Thanksgiving when I was 12.

I hate hanging copper pots, I detest baskets and I can't stand dried flowers and herbs displays. So why do I love that picture so much? Aaah, the Power of Martha...

i worship her. you have no idea.

How come I don't mind that traditional picture but I couldn't stand pics of Mario's stuff! Guess I just have no sophistication-- just know what I like.

remember kids this is 1989 Martha we're lookin' at here... her current aesthetic that her and her army of hugely talented people feels/looks/smells NOTHING like this anymore.

This pictures makes me sneeze.

I love Martha. On many levels and in many ways. I love her show and how she regularly and oddly insults her guests. And I remember seeing this picture in one of the magazines and the caption read something like "... the cabinets are pine. My husband built them himself not long after we moved into the house." Which is SO Martha! In one short snippet she manages to remind us that yes, she was married, to a man who could build cabinets -- and she manages to wipe her hands of those terrible pine cabinets at the same time. Genius!

this kitchen scares me. i agree about the copper pans falling on one's head!

Strange no one remarks on those cabbages. HOMEGROWN cabbages she made herself. I think that's one of the things that's little appreciated about her, she's a fairly mastered gardener and cook in her own right.

don't forget this is the kitchen martha ran her catering business from so i'm sure all those pots were used regularly and the baskets were used for clients as well. everything out in the open for easy access.

I saw those cabbages right off and immediately started singing Suddenly Seymore in my head.

Dust and spiders ..... what a clutter I presume she didn't try to cook in this mess.

OK... if that still life were, say, a Madam Tussaud's wax situation there might be dust, but I seriously doubt if she let anything gather dust there in person in real life.
