Packing our carry-on full of gadgets for a long plane trip (with layovers!), it’s almost inevitable that we will forget something that makes us go “D’oh!” when we’re sitting at Gate 29 in Terminal B in Dallas-Fort Worth.
Convenient, then, that Terminal B at DFW now features a Best Buy-branded vending machine stocked with an assortment of electronics…
Best Buy teamed up with Zoom Systems to make the machines happen and lift worries off of travelers’ shoulders. The vending machine features some of the best selling portable electronics from Best Buy stores: digital cameras, Bluetooth headsets, Bose noise-canceling headphones and Apple iPods.
While this is the first partnership with a retail store, Zoom Systems has made a killing producing vending machines for almost anything, including Sony products, iPods and ProActive solution.
For those that question the use of these machines, Gadling reports that back in 2006, an iPod vending machine at Atlanta airport was selling $55,000 a month in iPods alone, roughly about seven iPods a day.

There's a vending machine like this in the food court of the San Francisco Macy's. I've never bought anything there but it's pretty tempting just for the novelty. I normally associate vending machines with impulse buys, but most of these things are so expensive that I wouldn't classify them as such. Although not having to interact with a sales person (ESPECIALLY an I'm-too-cool-for-you Apple sales person) is pretty darned cool.
the electronics should come fully charged in the box, otherwise that defeats the purpose of the real impulse buy.
