Just after we learned that Google launched their own 411, Crave is reporting that the rumor that Google is venturing into the telephone market is reportedly true. They cite that well-known phone manufacter HTC (High Tech Computer Corp.) is already building a Google-enabled phone to be released later this year.
We love to think of the possiblities of a phone enabled with all of Google's useful apps like GMail and Maps, but wonder why they are venturing into the phone trade. We guess they want their presence in every technology market. What's next? Total world domination?

I have a year-old Windows Mobile-based phone that runs the Google Maps app (and before that the Java midlet) and runs Gmail just fine. Google coming out with a phone would be strange because they're not a hardware or (consumer) OS company. They're a service provider.
