We kind of pride ourselves on being up to date on these sort of legislative issues, but yesterday was the first we'd heard of a proposed California Bag Tax (AB 2058). If it passes, California residents will apparently pay 25 cents for every plastic bag they choose to use.
Take your own reusable bags and, obviously, you pay nothing.
We followed the San Francisco plastic bag ban, and it seems like this is simply taking that sentiment to another level.
The opposition claims that the Bag Tax will hurt low income families and will cost an average family $400 a year.
We think we know how most of our readers will feel about this one, but we love to be surprised. Let us know your thoughts.
