[Home Is] Brooklyn for Housing Works as of Friday, Jan. 19. We heard it was coming, replacing the Fishs Eddy on Montague Street in Brooklyn Heights. And lo, there they were, open for business, as we passed by on Friday evening.
New York-based Housing Works is the nation's largest non-profit minority-controlled AIDS service organization. They accept donations of gently used clothing and housewares and resell at Housing Works thrift shops around the city.
The shop on Montague is the first one in Brooklyn (and the first one outside of Manhattan!). -regina

YEAH for a Housing Works outlet in Brooklyn to accept donations! Wonder if they'll take books for the Crosby St store . . .
I LOVE Housing Works but when I stopped in I thought they had priced everything way too high. A Ralph Lauren oxford -- $45. A bad picture in a decent frame -- $245. I want to shop there, I really do but for those prices I'll get exactly what I want and not have to dry clean it first.

OMG! I received a postcard in the mail about the latest Housing Works in Brooklyn but never had a chance to peruse it. I had no idea it's just down the street from me. Woohoo... I know what I'm doing tomorrow after work!
It's really pricey though. They've got a nice navy velvet couch in the window. Price? $2,000. A gorgeous chandelier with jolly crystaly fruit. Price? $1,600 ... So don't get too excited.
