Closer, but not quite there yet. It really does seem to be the last thing that needs to be sorted before we can have a home full of gadgets without the mess of wires. Just think of the possibilities that would be available if you could place your TV in the middle of an open concept room without needing a nearby plug, or having your cell phone charge as soon as you walk into your house.
Intel, who is still developing this technology, says that right now it is safe for humans, but not for gadgets. Hearing that is a bit worrisome, but assuming we now have things like Wifi, Bluetooth, and cellular phones working safely, wireless power should be right around the corner. They just have to bring the efficiency up from 75%.....and of course do something about those huge rings. Not exactly practical to have in your home.
