For our sixth Design Evening, we gathered at The Firecracker Press for
a delightful tour, shmoozing and treats from Black Bear Bakery and libations from Amalgamated Brewing Company, a local brewery. See pics and read more about our fabulous evening below the jump!
Excitement filled the air as people arrived to take in the sights and sounds of The Firecracker Press. Moving around the shop and workspace, attendees enjoyed exploring this truly unique printing press shop.
At 7:00 p.m., owner Eric Woods started a tour of the shop, detailing all of the renovations that went into creating the current space on the hip and upcoming Cherokee Street in South City.
He detailed what it takes to make a small print vs a big print, the process they have to go through and what makes their operation so unique. In addition, he gave the crowd an inside look into what it takes to run a successful printing business.
In addition, he told us about work he has done with Crate & Barrel’s Land of Nod line, what it takes to create a truly memorable print and what it takes to collaborate successfully.
He also introduced us to his presses, ranging in age from the mid 1800s to the early 90s. And we each walked away with a special print made that evening.
From the fabulous cookies to the delightful tour, it was certainly a night to remember.
