Name: Nicole
Location: Elliot Park, Minneapolis, Minnesota
I fell in love with my condo the moment I walked in and saw the floor to ceiling windows with views of downtown Minneapolis. I was sold on the unit before I had made it past the foyer, thankfully the layout of my two bedroom, two bath condo was the icing on the cake. With 1,500 square feet to decorate I was challenged to find furnishings that filled the space but did not crowd it.
Throughout the decorating process I struggled with my love for contemporary furnishings but also wanted my condo to feel comfortable and welcoming. I wanted to make sure anyone who walked into my place saw elements of me in every room. After 6 years, I think I finally got it right!
The furniture is contemporary accented by different colors, textures and patterns. In the living room, my white leather sectional is accented with black fur throws, purple ruffled pillows and black pillows. The zebra printed chair ties the couch together with the black leather chairs I have around my dining room table and kitchen island. I finished the living room off with a pair black leather stools for additional seating. To keep the room open I used glass tables rather than solid tables. My favorite part of this room is the collection of steel frames that hang on the wall that hold photos of Maui, my favorite vacation destination. I love to travel so I also have framed photos of my travels through Europe in the kitchen and along the wall in the entryway.
The master bedroom has cotemporary espresso furniture with beige and teal bedding. The contemporary frosted glass bedside lamps help frame the room and provide light for reading in bed. The highlight of this room for me is the peacock feather artwork that I created which hangs over the bed. The room has accents of the peacock feathers in vases to tie the theme together. The teal and beige follow through to the bathroom. The bathroom lead s into a walk in closet which I constantly find myself rearranging to fit more shoes! My friends and family caught on at a young age that I had a thing for shoes and over the years I have received many shoe mementos that can be found throughout my condo.
The guest bedroom is furnished with a fabulous espresso bedroom set with a leather inset in the headboard. I found a brown weaved leather mirror that ties all the pieces together. The bedding is chocolate brown and pink which is also the colors of the guest bathroom. The guest quarters are accented with homemade pink candles.
I am so happy with where my decorating is today and I owe a lot of thanks to the many people who have shared their homes with Apartment Therapy's house tours. To say thanks and inspire others, I want to share my condo with others.
Thanks Nicole!

Oooh I love that zebra chair! Very chic!
The zebra print is my favorite element in this polished home.
I knew I recognized the IDS tower!
Very cute condo in a great location!
I love the zebra chair. The only thing I would have liked to see is a bit more color!
i LOVE this! totally my style! where'd the sectional come from?
Not a fan of the zebra chair, but love the views.
So beautiful, Nicole - love your style! Do you have a blog?
It's nice - with one caveat for me - the number of black pillows on the couch makes it seem like you wish you didn't have a white couch. With the heavy black frames it's just kind of overdone black.
LOVE! Would also love to know where you got your white sectional. That's not Ikea is it?
I love all the black and white and strategically you've used the colors (or non-colors).
I'm a huge fan of dark furniture, and your wonderful windows keep the rooms from feeling gloomy like some of my apts have felt.
I'm in the market for a Twin City place to buy in the next few years. Good to know that good ones exist with lots of light. St Paul tends to have old ones with itty bitty windows. Probably for heat control, but I feel trapped in them
Nice apt. Where did you get your patio furniture?
The framed peacock feather creation is beautiful. I want to make one too now!
A nice thing about natural peacock feathers is that no animal is harmed in getting them. The birds shed their feathers in a seasonal moult, and people gather the fallen feathers from the ground. I like their look, but they get dusty and are too fragile for frequent cleaning. Covering them in a framed glass sheet looks like a good way to fix that!
nice, generic
I think it's unusual to use texture more than pattern to add interest to your pillows; I've been experimenting with something similar in dark reds. I would want the Maui pictures to be larger in relation to the frames, but I'm guessing the steel frames are much more obvious in person. My only quibble is that the black vase behind the couch is calling out for some dramatic branches, feathers, or flowers.
I am so proud to see a Minnesotan home on here!
I think I have the same couch! Where did you get it from?
