Here's a look at the wood fired pizza oven and outdoor entertaining space I built in my back yard. I was pregnant with my second daughter, but this project was my baby. I lifted every brick, built every wall, mortared every stone. It was the first time I'd ever done any masonry in my life, but I was a woman obsessed from the first time I found the plans online.
My husband may have thought I was nuts when I came up with the idea of building a pizza oven, but we all adore it now. We can entertain vegetarians, the lactose intolerant, carnivores and even our vegan friends. And inexpensively. We can feed 40 people for $40, and feed them very, very well. The food is absolutely amazing, and the entertainment is built right in. My husband can finally show off all those skills he practiced while working at pizza joints in high school — he's quite a showman with the dough! And when a pizza cooks in 90 seconds, it doesn't take long to feed a large crowd!
I used the free plans available from fornobravo.com and the forum full of incredibly helpful people there as my guide in this project.
