The look and feel of the apartment's structure has greatly inspired me. I love the hardwood flooring, the curved passages, and the large southern facing windows that allow me to have all of these unique plants (83 and counting). Also having all the rooms divided encourages me to create various themes/influences for each space, as opposed to one large look, like I've done in past homes with open concept layouts.
Three of My Best Tips and Tricks for Creating a Successful Small Space::
Future planning: I was inspired by the January Cure and made a list of what I liked, wanted, and needed in each room. After tons of scratched ideas, I constructed a plan that relocated furniture in places that heightened storage and functionality. The end result was a better flow throughout the entire apartment and I finally built the wood/metal shelf I've been planning for years!
Inventory: First, before buying, ask yourself if it'll work in at least 3 rooms. This is really important if you, like myself, love to redecorate. Then edit. I often like to take time and reflect in each room. Scaling back sometimes can really help your look remain clear as to how you truly envision it.
Don't limit your design: Because your home is small never assume your dream vision is out of reach. Like mentioned above, with smart planning, shopping, and patience you can take your small space to great heights!
