Name: Nico (2)
Location: Indianapolis, IN
When I was pregnant with my 2-year-old son, Niko, I was so sick that I had no energy or motivation to put my heart into decorating his nursery. We left the wall color the same as it had always been and threw in a crib. As he grew out of his crib (and I wasn't pregnant) I really wanted to make his toddler/big boy room fun.
I was inspired by my father's collections of antique toys and he gave us a few old toy trucks and a cool Pan Am toy plane. With those items, a trip to IKEA, some bright blue paint, and a paint-it-yourself chalk board, Niko was a very happy 2-year-old with a fun, bright, new room!
Thanks Jen!

White Enamel Four-P...
Such a cute little boys room!!
Sweet, simple and most importantly- fun! My little guy would love this room!
So cute, bright and cheerful!! Love it!
Luv, luv, luv it! This is my 3 year old son's dream room. The vintage trucks steal the show.
This is so great! Exactly what I was picturing for my son's big boy room. Thanks for the inspiration!
Yay! A kid room that actually looks like a kid's room! Way to go parents!
Love the colors and antique toys - great, fun kids room.
This room is adorable, but just a note of caution... even when antique toys don't test positive for lead paint, lead can still be present. The test kits are notoriously unreliable.
We had several antique trucks and cars when my son was 2 and my daughter was born. They had all come out clean on the lead test kits from the hardware store. At 2, my son was old enough not to put his hands in his mouth all the time, so he was fine handling the trucks, but my daughter loved to suck on her fingers. When we had her lead tested at her first birthday check-up, her lead level was elevated -- just slightly, but enough to send me into a panic! We cleaned out all the antique toys and six months later her blood lead level was back to normal.
Just a little warning for those who might be inspired to break out the old trucks and toys in an infant's nursery...
@ Pipe Creek: I'm glad you brought up the lead paint factor. Although I'm a fan of the vintage craze, I've also worked in public health & often wonder about lead paint when I see posts like these.
Love the room! The use of little shelves is genius. My kids have some beautiful toys that I would love to just display, and this idea is perfect.
this room looks so adorable! what about having a boat in the kids room as part of the decor? that'll be pretty awesome...dont you think? http://www.eieihome.com/blog/unique-kid-s-rooms.html
