Wood, surprisingly, has been playing a large role in the consumer electronics world. It's been showing up in iPad cases, weather stations, and keyboards. And while we think the natural texture of lumber can bring some much needed warmth to otherwise cold electronics, there's a science behind doing it right.

Nixon recently debuted headphones and earbuds which incorporate wood in their designs. Both their Master Blaster and Wire 8mm (shown above) got the woodgrain treatment, but we're not sure if it's the right fit. There's a saying we like, "just because you can, doesn't mean you should," and we wonder if more gadget companies should follow. What do you think?
