In this day and age, we feel a little better about purchasing new items if we know that they were made from recycled materials. It's certainly not the end all, be all — but it certainly helps. It's thrilling to see designers continually release products that are modern not only in design, but also in how they are manufactured.

The No. 9 Chair, is the product of a match made in heaven collaboration of Studio Murmur and Loll. Studio Murmur is a multidisciplinary design firm providing creative and consulting services in design research, product design and product development based in Chicago. Loll is a modern outdoor furniture manufacturer specializing in the use of recycled materials to make affordable long lasting and no maintenance outdoor furniture based in Minnesota.
The two teamed up to create a line of brightly colored outdoor lounge chairs and ottomans made entirely from HDPE (plastic milk jugs). The chairs even ship flat, to minimize shipping costs and large erroneous packaging. The lounge chair and ottoman will be available in six different colors and were recently debuted at ICFF &mdash they will be available for purchase later in the year.

These are really cool! I'll be keeping an eye out for them. Thanks for previewing.
Hello to all,
I am a new subscriber. I am not an interior designer or architect. I'm am a Physical Therapist & Adjunct Professor who sustained career-ending injuries that necessitated two surgeries to date, with the potential for others.
I now rehab architectural salvage items into functional furniture and decorative pieces. For fear of sounding like Art Rooney of 60 Minutes fame, I have 3 questions for other subscribers:
1) Have all design forms essentially been invented and, we now simply recycle them?
2) What is "chic" about "Industrial Chic"?
3) Who (person or entity) decides which colors will be the so-called fashion colors?
Thank you
Dave Clifton

Yes, this is rather nice...
...but it's an awful lot like something that's already on the market from Loll Designs which is also made from recycled materials and ships unassembled:

I also got to see it in person -- it's very nice.
