No Buzz Zone: Cities Where Beekeeping Is Still Illegal

I didn't know these types of laws existed but evidently beekeeping is actually an illegal practice in many communities across the U.S. and around the world. After a month of research, the Daily Green and BeeCulture have created the Wall of Shame—a list of cities and towns that prohibit beekeeping.

Rooftop bees and beekeeping has become more and more popular. Within a 5 block vicinity of my house, I've spotted around a dozen such beehives that are resident owned. Little did I know that I was lucky to be in a town so supportive of the practices.

The Daily Green and BeeCulture, who have compiled this Google Map of towns that don't allow beekeeping, do say that the rules prohibiting beekeeping in many towns have been on the books for years. But until residents challenge the outdated and possibly unwarranted rules, they'll persist. Checkout the map and read more here.
