Every once in awhile when we're doing some everyday thing like taking milk out of the fridge or restocking the toilet paper we think about Colin, Michelle, Isabella and Frankie who you may remember as the No Impact family who spent an experimental year taking drastic steps to reduce their collective carbon footprint. Their story is now a movie and if you missed it in your city it's coming soon to dvd and Netflix!
The family's experiment is compelling on many levels. We can especially relate to Michelle's struggles to give up some of modern life's amenities especially in the face of her overly enthusiastic husband. No Impact Man the blog is still going strong as is the non-profit No Impact Project (which invites you to undertake a one-week "carbon cleanse"). No Impact Man, the movie, toured many cities this fall. You can see a trailer below.
Did anyone see the movie yet?

His comment at the end about the individual packages made me think of how crazy Japanese packaging would drive him. Even I thought "this is really overkill" one of the first times I picked up some small candies and realized every candy was covered in plastic and had paper wrapping it all while being in a tray in a box. It was charming but excessive.
