We brought you the great Hog Wild vintage store earlier today that's located in the North Loop neighborhood of Austin. Like many cities, Austin's known for its colorful and unique communities, and the North Loop doesn't disappoint. If you're looking for a good day trip, the North Loop might just be for you...

If you're in Austin and looking to getaway from all this economic bad news, the North Loop has distractions galore. Or, perhaps you've just moved to Austin and are wondering where to settle down? The North Loop neighborhood is a great example of a funky Austin area. Sort of rusty but totally local, North Loop comprises an area between Lamar Road and I-35 and between 51st Street and Koenig, plus a little bit that dips down Airport Boulevard.

The North Loop neighborhood is full of bright colors, dim lights, questionable characters and imaginative business signs. It's wonderful. The area sprung up after soldiers coming home from the World War II needed to build homes. After years of being considered undesirable because of its close proximity to Austin's old airport, a new airport was built and the North Loop enjoyed resurgence in popularity. The neighborhood now enjoys an eclectic mix of residents and business owners and is home to several popular businesses, like the Epoch and Flight Path coffee shops and great vintage stores, pizza parlors and restaurants.
