Type of Home: Cottage
What inspired you to use color? Seattle is a city best known for it's natural wonders and grey climate. The orange and gold colors of Fall along with simple wood details really warm the house on a rainy day...
Color Tip: Earthy orange and gold colors reflect the Fall season as well as Mid-Century design. Furnish the room with a few Eames, Nelson, or Noguchi accents and you've got a 50's classic home.
Colors Used: ICI "Desert Valey"; Maharam "Scout"

This house is beautiful. The clean lines and classic furniture work so well. I love the floors, the fireplace, the divider between the kitchen and the dining room. A fantastic job!
It's ok but apart from the red sofa there is not really any color (besides beige).
i agree w/ nina79.
btw, nice photography. did you use hdr?
love it.
love the muted colors with pops.
i'm sort of suprised you didn't paint the brick on the fireplace though.
still it looks amazing
I agree..not enough color for a color contest.
Beautiful, nice stuff, <A HREF="http://kayingleside.com/night%20view.html" TARGET=#new>pull the couch away from the wall.</A>
very nice home
It's nice and relaxing, but could easily pass for one of those model suites in a condo.
And here I was thinking Seattle was best known for coffee and a certain voracious software company.
I think this place is nice, if not terribly original. Re-surfacing that fireplace would help a lot.
But the lighting and the photography are really good.
wow! I'm first to mention the half divider between the kitchen and dining room. I love it. What did you make it out of?
How big is your kitchen? I looks reaaaaaaaaly long.
Love the bathroom - a couple of quick questions...
Is the tile on all the walls - floor to ceiling, or just on the two walls pictured?
Which manufacturer makes the sink? And/or where did you purchase the sink?
Very nice home, but not very adventurous color-wise.
I love your bathroom sink. That's just the kind of thing we need in our little bathroom. May I ask where you purchased it, or who makes it?
Who said that "color" had to mean bright color. Even white is a "color". I think this contest should be about how you use color. Neutrals can be blah or they can really make a dramatic statement. This home owner should be recognized for using color that makes the space relaxing and for selecting minimal accessories that work together.
not really a colorful place. but beautiful.
Yes, mviamontes, neutral can make a statement, but this one falls short. The only accents are a red/orange couch and yellow tulips.
I really, really like this place. It has a sort of monochromatic warm tone throughout. I love the wood. We see this layering with whites a lot. It always creates such a luxurious feel. They have made an amazing use of lighting to define the spaces within the monochrome. It feels both modern and cozy, i.e. even though it is very sparse and modern it isn't too sterile. They probably could use a few more accents though. I would put together some art objects with bold colors that contrast their theme, like a bright green or white, and curvy feminine lines.
Nice place :)
Just an observation...Maybe I´m wrong, but it seems some surfaces were generated on computer? Living room floor, kitchen cabinets and bathroom tiles...Looks so perfect with weird shadows...Anyone had the same impression or it´s just me?
