Name: tony and katherine
Location: mission district, san francisco
Type of Home: rented, loft, 1bed/2bath, lived here 3 months.
What inspired you to use color? our neighborhood! we live in san francisco's brightest and most colorful neighborhood, the mission district. a walk around the block contains open produce markets, outdoor flower vendors, mosaic-tiled sidewalks, and boldly painted murals and victorians. our home becomes a collection of treasures inspired by our surroundings.Color Tip: the easiest ways to bring fresh seasonal color into your home are with fresh flowers and fresh produce! also, only bring things into your home that you absolutely love.
Colors Used: luckily, our apartment was already painted these colors when we moved in. a little digging through the touch up paint under the sink finds laura ashley yellow squash and benjamin moore carrot stick and fall harvest.

Nomade Express Slee...
Looks like a fun place!
I like it.
If there is one thing I have learned from all these house tours: orange is the new red.
I like it. Well done.
Having lived in a loft for twenty years, this reminds me of what a noise and privacy problem big open spaces are.
Now I like rooms.
cool and joy
the kitchen storage could be painted with a lighter color
Beautiful! What a great use of the space! I especially love the grocer's packaging-as-fruit-holder on the bar (first picture). And it's hard to think of a space that could better showcase that giant gas/motel road sign. Love it.
I really enjoy the rug on the diagonal. Very clever.
Yes, I notice the rug as well...cool! This is a great space!
Very nice. Lovely colors and a beautiful space.
Very cool.
I enjoy the blues in the vintage sign and the throw pillows on the couch.
Also, what's going on with that rug? It's amazing!
Great use of space! I love the placement of the sign (what a find!) and the diagonal rug. Fantastic fall colors.
I love the patchwork rug and its placement there is so great compositionally; it's not just good color-wise.
Sorry, I know it's slightly off the subject here...but
Should San Francisco really be considered pacific "North West"? I guess I just don't think of SF as being in the same category as Seattle\Washington\Portland\Oregon. I mean, there are palm tress in San Francisco. I'm just sayin'...
super cool place
Love it. And I agree the rug is great.
thanks for the lovely comments everyone! we've only been here three months so the encouragement is great as we figure out how to make the most of this huge space.
the colorful patchwork rug is made from samples of tretford carpet that we received from tony's sister who is an interior designer. we made the rug while we were at the old place and you may recognize it from a "flickr finds" post that appeared on apartment therapy in the spring. here's the whole flickr set.
@Ziiip® unfortunately we're renting so we don't have a choice on the kitchen cabinets!
