What inspired you to use color? I use bold colors in my artwork and it has seeped into my everyday day life. From clothes to my wall colors and throw pillows, it's an obsession I've had, and been dealing with my entire life. Having my studio located in my house with so many paint colors also plays a big part in my color use...
Color Tip: Don't be afraid to acquire something in a new color you wouldn't usually buy... chances are it will compliment the other colors you already love and have in your house. Mix it up!
Colors Used: Paint colors- Steamer, jacquard, red orange, and Windham.

I really like that fireplace facade. Sigh.
The fireplace is awesome! Very unique. I have those colorful stack-able bowls - great for cereal and BIG cocoa
Wow. By far my favorite. I love these colors.
Your colors are so great. They're bold, but just muddy enough to set off your furnishings - it looks so rich and restful at the same time. And I have have a serious crush on your studio.
that fireplace is awesome...two thumbs up for this submission.
thanks for the nice comments! The metal fireplace surround I found in the woods near my house. It was covered in moss and dirt from years outside, so i power-washed it, and then had the hole cut out in the center. I think it use to be the siding for a truck? but I really have no clue. My contractor thought i was nuts, but i'm happy with it.
what a great use of color and that fireplace is amazing!

yeah that fireplace pretty much rocks. fantastic idea!! :)
dark and cluttered
ugly
i like it. it's bold. i wish you hadn't used a picture on fruit & what appears to be fake flowers. but it is nice.
I agree. The fireplace facade is a really unique way of recycling something old. The colors work really well together. There's something very comfortable about it, and it's nice that everything isn't overdone.
I am echoing the fireplace love. It is so fantastic.
one of the best fireplaces i've seen!
Very pretty. I love the blue!
It's just fantastic. The whole thing is amazing, but the fireplace is a big, bold, classic, abstract, perfect, colorful-yet-completely-elemental stroke. When this gets imitated all over the world, I hope people will remember that it was here first. I completely love that fireplace surround.
Love your fireplace, and the blues and greens on your walls,
I have that same chair next to the fireplace and love the pillows you're using for cushions, I might steal that idea!
really like the fireplace. Everything else, feh.
Yes to the blue and green, and the wonderful fireplace.
Great use of color with the Danish teak furniture and the more modern countertops, as well. That granite is incredible... bright green blasting out in unexpected bolts... and the fireplace, agreed- great concept!
Gorgeous place!
I soooo want that fireplace!!!
The fireplace is brilliant!
Not only do I think the fireplace is ingenious, but I love the placement of the telephone wires photo next to it. All the blocky colors in this area work wonderfully well together - nice job!
It's an artist's dream loft - love the use of color with an industrial feel - every detail right down to the citrus on the plates is brilliant!
OMG that fireplace rocks! Is it warm too or just aesthetic? Looks like a mini gas behind it but I don't know.
so jealous of the workshop space!!!! can we please get more info about your prints? do you have a website? i love the silkscreens on the walls!
Hi, sure!
Here's me:

Not all the prints on the walls are by me though, one screen print is by aesthetic apparatus, the small painting is by Deth P. Sun and a vintage found photograph of a ocean barge is in one of the pics as well. I wish I took new photos for this contest, I entered this as a last second, late night, "Hey why the heck not?" gesture. Ah well. I made the red seiner fishing boat screen print you see in two of my photos. It ended up in two room photos as I happened to change my house around during the months between taking pictures.
..to answer saltylibrarian the fireplace is our main heat source for the house!
It's from www.sparkfires.com/
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the mix of found eclectic objects with the modern appliances and vibrant paint colors! It really gives the place a modern, lived in feel. Even her choice of prints adds to the intensity of the color in her place. Bravo!
Love the color and texture. Bold choices. Its my favorite.

What an amazing home. It's so welcoming and warm, and edgy. The use of color is really thoughtful and bold. If you need someone to house-sit...
goood luck getting to final four- your deserve the win today! for the 50th time; The fireplace is fantastic! It looks like the side of a bus. Your place would be perfect for a big replication of a (Banksy) tag. Stenciled on the wall. Would love to do that but my old home is not the right canvas. Will check you out on Etsy.
The color combinations are amazing and unexpected. Only a true artist can make such daring choices and have them look completely natural and complimentary. I am jealous, can I pay Square Harbor to consult on colors for my household?
i am hoping this entry wins the colour competition...this place is the raddest of all.
Thanks everybody for your votes and nice comments!

p.s. We lost by 2 votes, it was so close!
Arloarlo- I am very sorry to have seen you lose BY 2 VOTES- aaaaahhhhh!!!! to such a dull, uninspired entry like Ingers. I am sure that you are being a good sport and would never agree with my statement but you know that its true. The same tripe beat Catherine's Outside Inside- which was stunning. Congrats, at least, on having such an attractive home- in that, you are the victor.
Wellllll, I do kinda agree...I'm not saying our entry was the most colorful of the Northwest bunch, but it is a little disappointing to see our final two. Both of the entries are color lacking, and It appears that color isn't really the theme of this contest after all.
it still was fun!
Thanks again BriSha.
