The New York Times shows us the home of the Leopold family — it's on the edge of a Fjord in Asker, Norway. Just south of Oslo, the home takes full advantage of the surrounding views and features many large windows, a dock for fishing and swimming and five outdoor decks...

While the home appears ready for Scandinavian summers, it also must be comfortable in the dark and cold winters — there is an elaborate electrical heating system in all the floors of the house and even "under the driveway and the path leading to the front door."

I wish we could see more photos of the house. Looks beautiful
the house, of course is gorgeous! i am curious about the heating of it. is the floor system the only heating system in the house? i didnt notice any fireplaces, are there some? and what fuels the floor system, what makes the water hot, natural gas out in the wilds?
thanks!
Norway is such a beatiful country - I hope I can go back again sometime soon...
i am in love with that kitchen!
The article talks with further detail about the electrical heating system and the fireplaces in the house...

The post and the article stated that the house is heated electrically. Norway has an extensive system of electric public utilities, nearly all which comes from hydroelectric facilities - so most folks rely upon electric climate control and heated water.
I would also have liked to see a bit more of the space. The decor seems almost too simple and clean for my tastes (at least judging from the pictures) - but perhaps it works in this relaxing environment. In any event, it is a beautiful home.
Wow- Beautiful...I'd love to have one just like it. Very nice-clean looking.....would love to see more of the inside.
it's a beautiful house with a lovely view, but boy they pay through the nose in norway. over a mil for construction of a 300sqm home is very, very high - even for a winterized one.
but the end result is very nice.
Holy moly. This is what I call a truly ideal house; amazing use of natural light, wonderful flow of indoor to outdoor, and the sparse yet warm decor. And the lake! I would be jealous but I admire the Leopold's style too much. Fab.
