Q: Here's a question for all those creative parent Ohdeedoh readers. In a month, I'll be leading a workshop for a local mom's group. The workshop is entitled "Go Green, Save Green--Upcycle!" I'll be demonstrating several projects as well as giving them the materials and opportunity to give it a try. We'll be making toddler pants and re-usable grocery bags from old t-shirts. But all my projects so far require sewing. I want at least one or two for the moms who have no interest in sewing. So, does anyone have a great suggestion of a family-friendly upcycling project that can be completed in 30 minutes or less with very little cost?

I've made mobiles by reusing empty tissue boxes, the wooden chopsticks you get from takeout and string. You can find a short tutorial here: http://embeshop.com/2009/09/tissue-box-mobile/
Good luck!
http://beautifullyused.com/?p=192 has some great ideas (I am not affiliated with the blog, I just think it is cool).
You can make magnets out of soda bottle lids. I've pasted magnets into beer or soda bottle lids before. Craft magnets are super cheap to buy. Hot glue and you're done.
I use a lot of smaller containers for storage. Those gerber puff containers are great for storing crayons or other art supplies and once you peel the label off, they're just plain white containers.

I second the crayons. I've done it with my kids (4 and almost 2 years old) and it was a huge hit, and super easy.
We made bead and wire flowers, you can use pipe cleaners or florists wire... quite easy! http://www.se7en.org.za/2009/04/23/se7en-create-bead-and-wire-flowers
