The cure for the winter blues? Seeing photos of these new hot tub boats boosted my mood considerably. How fun! A Seattle-based company came up with the patent-pending design, and you can actually rent one to motor (yes, there's a motor!) around Lake Union. While you hot tub and soak up sun. It's even got two coolers.
If you were rich, you could spring for a yacht with a hot tub on board, but these Hot Tub Boats are a close second. Up to six friends can tour around the lake at a given time. If you go for it, you'll want to have a bikini-worthy bod because you'll be getting a lot of stares from other boaters. (Boy, do I need to start doing sit-ups.)
It's a little off topic from home design — unless you have waterfront digs and want a boat and a hot tub in one! — but a neat idea from some Seattle shipwrights. What do you think? Would you take a ride?

LOVE these. Kinda tacky but fun at the same time. Would definitely use these on Balboa Island.
I don't care how many people would laugh at me, that sounds AWESOME. Lounging around at the perfect temperature while enjoying the beauty of the lake? Lovely!
LOVE IT!!
It's cute, and I wish the proprietors well. For many people, renting a hot tub may be a more practical idea than owning one. It seems that most people I know who have had one rarely used it after the novelty of the thing wore off. Indeed, hot tubs frequently show up in the "free" classification on craigslist.
And I gotta wonder just how patentable this idea is. Surely this can't be the first time someone has thought to put a hot tub aboard a boat. Maybe a patent lawyer may wish to chime in here.
This sounds unbelievably relaxing right now.
We definitely had hot tubs on a truck at college parties, 20 years ago.
But given that there are multiple patents relating to the entertainment of a cat with a laser pointer, apparently nothing is beyond the pale.
Oooh yeah, I'd be in that thing like a flash. Nice!!
I would ask/pay for an extra cleaning when renting. But it seems like a fun and random day when the sun finally shines here in Seattle!
