Wasn't the article more geared towards the northeast climate though (shorter, hotter growing season)? All my literature for the NW says ideally the mid- to end-of-May is the best time to plant tomatoes. I always try to get em in by Memorial Day at the latest. However, this year is much colder than past, so I just got my last ones in last weekend. It was a great article though, I agree.
