White Enamel Flatwa...
I like some of these. I always want a little bits of colour to fill my pretty vases (we never have real flowers around because we'd have to buy them) and I think fake silk ones are so obviously fake that they hurt the eyes. Some of these, like the first picture, are kind of alien looking and are fun.
I have been looking for sheets of the colorful heavy crepe paper my mom used in the 60's to make her crepe paper flowers. I used to help --
but now can't find the paper - not at Michael's or (ugh) Hobby Lobby. I think the only place is from a German company online.
I really like the versions that geometrically suggest flowers instead of mimicking them (especially #1 and #8).
@LoveDecor,
You can get crepe paper at Dollar Stores, in the wrapping paper section. Probably also at places like Hallmark stores.
I like those felted wool pom poms especially.. they remind me of Dr. Seuss.
So the less like real flowers the fakes look, the more acceptable they are? Interesting.
I LIKE silk flowers. I have silk cherry blossoms in an Asian style vignette in my bathroom. They add a pop of white agianst the blue walls.
I have a chartreuse silk orchid on my mantle. (I kill real ones.) It brings colors of the upholstery and nearby painting together.
Right now, I have silk poinsettias (white) on my breakfast table and holly in the kitchen.
They make me smile, give a reason for my beautiful vases to be in use, and aren't tempting to my cats (who sometimes tip over containers of wter...)
While I enjoy cut flowers, my budget doesn't run to keeping them on hand, and silks last. Nobody else has to like them, but to me they are just another decor element. I know they aren't real, my guests know that, but, like a painting of flowers, they bring the sense of nature into a space that maybe can't support the real thing financially or because of low light levels or rambunctious pets.
I love these stylized, quirky flowers! And yes, they really are much more appealing to me, than those that attempt to give the illusion of realism. They lighten the ambiance, introduce a spirit of playfulness and humor. They're enchanting.
