Last month we featured an amazing playground made from used wind turbine parts. While that was inspiring in its creative use of materials, check out these playgrounds that are just plain creative.

These playgrounds by Monstrum, a Danish design firm, are nothing short of amazing. From sinking ships to blue whales to slightly creepy giant spiders, there is no concept they will shy away from. Beautiful bright colors and a sense of whimsy stuck in overdrive result in inspiring spaces where imaginations can run wild.

Each structure is carefully designed to have different zones of activity for different age groups, with a chance for kids of all ages to develop their motor skills. They also tend to look at home in their surroundings, no small feat for an active playspace. Our hats are off to you, Monstrum!

Nomade Express Slee...
HOW FUN! When I was a kid there was a park on 19th Ave. in SF where you could play in a real live figher plane. From my understanding, the military took it back, re-vamped it and it's now back in the Army.
In my hometown the "little" park had a caboose and the "big" park had a tank. It was great.
That whale is beautiful! But unfortunately, paranoid parents in the US would have a litigative field day with it.
how fun... a fighter plane, a tank. you don't even notice the difference, do you?
Here's an article about the fighter jet park in SF. Looks like it would've been fun!

These are awesome. Anyone know of any fabulous playgrounds in the greater Philadelphia area?
Yeah, not surprised these are in Europe - not handicapped accessible dumbed-down equipment like we have here.
This is quickly becoming one of my favorite non-AT blogs:

I think I've read through all of her archives now.
Linnybee,
The best playground in Philadelphia is Smith Memorial Playground & Playhouse. It's a non-profit, has a HUGE playground, a historic Playhouse mansion, and is free.
