This week Cortney and Bob threw an outdoor party at their Great Barrington house, and as part of the design they hung vintage chandeliers in the trees. I want to hang pretty lights in my trees, too! They paid $1500 for theirs. I looked in my wallet. I had 8 bucks.
We love to talk about mixing high and low in decorating, but what about when your high is low and your low is "What can I make out of trash?" Don't despair! Get inspired! What can we make with 8 bucks?

LED tea lights
double sided tape
Step 1: Take the kids out for chocolate shakes.
Step 2: Wash out those dome lids and cut the edge of one of them down a little. Now the two lids will snap together to form a ball.
Step 3: Cover the lids with double sided tape.
Step 4: Cut plastic shopping bags into little 2 inch by 2 inch squares. Stick the squares onto the lids with the eraser end of a pencil. Stick them all over, about 1/2 inch apart, and work your way around.
Step 5: Put an LED tea light inside and snap the ball together. Hang from the trees!
Super easy, super fun, and they light up! Thanks for the inspiration, Novos!
