NPR decided to put the question to the test: Are computer keyboards dishwasher safe? Answer: yes, just make sure you dry it well before plugging it back in. Our answer: that has to be the scariest looking keyboard we've ever seen. Our other question is for you: how do you clean your keyboard? A reader over at Gizmodo joked that their dog was for cleaning the keyboard; another said he's done this numerous times and that the only thing worse for the wear is the letters are wearing off; and a number of them said they just buy another keyboard. From our personal experience, we used Method Go Naked wipes, figuring if we're going to get friendly with the keys while cleaning them and afterward when using the keyboard, we didn't want harsh chemicals on our hands, and we used a flexible butter knife to pry the keys off. It took a good long while to do it, but it was rewarding, the same way our mother had always hoped we feel cleaning was rewarding (but didn't) while we were growing up. Guess that means we're all grown up now.
