Mini Nursery Tour: Robin's Nursery

Name: Robin Location: Chicago, Illinois Details, it's all about the details. Robin and her husband are expecting their baby boy in June and his delightful nursery is all about the great little touches throughout the room. On the dresser sits a softly-lit lantern-base lamp, which compliments the bird and nature theme throughout the room. Next to that, two great framed pieces of art: a cardinal and a robin. (Ha! A robin! We like that, Robin.) Robin explains her decorating style: "My inspiration for the nursery came almost entirely from the Charley Harper bird poster hanging above the changing table. I had seen it in the window of the Frame Warehouse in Oak Park...finally I just went in and bought it and then decided on a loose bird theme for the room. I'm generally wary of overly-themed kids rooms, but my husband is an avid bird watcher and the ubiquity of cute bird stuff on the market made it a relatively easy choice, plus I like the fact that it isn't gender-specific. When I started gathering the items for the room, I didn't know if we were having a boy or a girl, which is how we wound up with the Oeuf* lounger in the pink colorway. I found it used for a very reasonable price. I suppose that has been my main philosophy about the room, that it shouldn't cost a lot to make it a cozy, cute and comfortable place to be.

Since we live in a city apartment we need this room to function as a guest room as well as baby HQ. Because of this, we decided to keep our queen futon in the room and forgo a crib for now. We purchased a co-sleeper for our bedroom and plan to co-sleep once baby Max makes the scene, in just 3 short weeks!"
Among the sweet items throughout the room are a homemade banner made by a friend, a teeny wagon which sits quietly off to the side waiting to be used when Max begins taking his first steps, and a great hanging felt alphabet. The funishings include a bookshelf from PB Teen mounted low to the ground, a chocolate and pink Oeuf lounger and an Ikea dresser. Thanks, Robin! *Just a reminder, if you've purchased an Oeuf lounger between September 15, 2006 through March 24, 2007 that has the following color pattern: brown with white, blue, and pink stripes, they have been recalled by Oeuf. Contact Oeuf to receive replacement parts for your lounger.
