It seems like it's every day we're on the computer and reading about some amazing art opening in New York City. We live in Philadelphia, so we're not exactly NYC experts. We have quite a few friends there, but they're not always around to help us navigate our way around the city. It always seems that a lof of art openings take place in spaces that aren't the most elaborate or easy to find.
Recently launched, the NY ArtBreat iPhone App helps route you around town to find different art openings and exhibits. The app features maps, a list of most popular and a search feature that allows you to sort results via schedule, popularity and area.
The map section pinpoints art openings and galleries. When you click on the one you're interested in it will show you the details of the event and you have the option of getting directions from the point in which you are currently at.
When searching for the most popular art shows you will see a list. The great thing about this list is that it shows you what venue the exhibit is at and even gives you the hours! That's so informative and great because we cannot count the number of times we find a venue on google maps and then have to call and ask for hours. Plus, you won't get all pumped for an exhibit at the Guggenheim and then realize it's closed when you walk all the way there.
We're so impressed by how much event details you get from the app. It tells you what time of art, the artists name (obviously), location and even a brief synopsis. We're not sure how the NY ArtBreat app is only $1.99, because we'd surely pay more for it (shh!).
