Hello AT,
I found this couch off craigslist and was thrilled with it.
However I don't know much about it.
All I know is that it is a vintage piece from the 70's. Pleather.
The wood is industrial oak.
Thats it.... I would be curious to see if anybody could shed some light on it...
Thanks! Atar

Oh my. My father built a pair of sofas like that some time between 1969 and 1973, though this one is enough different that it's not one of those particular sofas.
If no one can give you an ID, I'd try back issues of House & Garden and maybe Sunset from that era.
It is not cool!!!!!
Love it. It's gorgeous!
Can't help you but I share your enthusiasm.
I had a sofa that looked like this a few years ago -- it was black leather, the wood frame was Brazilian Rosewood, and it was made by Lafer (a Brazilian furnture company) in the late 60's or early 70's. Mine was manufactured in Brazil for the mass market, but they made some pretty high-end funiture, too. That could be a knock-off of one of their designs. Google "antique furniture" and "Lafer," or look up Lafer on ebay. You'll find some similar examples.
Thank you for all of the interesting leads-wende, and treva.
I will continue investigating.
clickchick- glad you share my enthusiasm
Rick- don't mind if you don't...
It feels nice to have a piece of furniture that has a "past" and history and not just another Ikea sofa (which our other sofa is)...so I feel I owe it to find out a little more about it.
I'm sorry I don't have any leads...but I love it! Great find...
