Dear AT,
I recently bought a pair of funky looking chairs and an ottoman off Craigslist.
The seller claims that he no longer remembers the manufacturer.
I have no idea either! Can AT help me?
I ask this question because I want to put new cushions+covers in.
The current blue expanse is kinda boring.
I want a thicker cushion + a livelier cover. Any ideas and/or sources? Thanks! Peter

One of my neighbors is actually throwing one out. Wish some new cushions it could be a nice patio chair!
looks like a Barcelona knock off. Not sure if it is the same dimensions as the Barcelona but if it is you could order cushions through Knoll.
The chair and ottoman used to be sold through chiasso (www.chiasso.com). I remember them being really inexpensive, like, $199 for the set. They used to sell them in a pleather upholstery as well. Chiasso was selling them as barcelona-inspired, in that the dimensions are definitely not the same a knoll barcelona. It has a smaller footprint and, because of the materials used, much lighter in weight.
It's definitely a knock-off of Mies's Barcelona Pavilion chairs. But I doubt the dimensions would be the same as the original, or that it would be cost effective to order cushions through Knoll, anyway. They would cost a fortune. Better off just having cushions made.
poor mans barcelona. keeps the nice shape, but allows for outside elements. i think it would awesome with that cheap ikea green felt....
I don't think you need the chair's origins to get it redone... just an upholsterer.
They difinitely were an inexpensive chair. I actually had them about 5 years ago. I do not, however, remeber who made them but I do remember that the cushions were just a flat cushion that velcroed underneath and on the back in order to hold the cushion and conform to the curvature of the chair. if you are pretty handy you could probably redo them yourself.
It looks like an item from the manufacturer Amisco. They had lots of similar furniture in a powder coated metal (futons, book cases, desks etc.) I remember seeing a chair like that for sale at Urban Outfitters about 8 years ago.
I remember it at Urban Outfitters several years ago too.
Hey, check out about 3/4 of the way down:
